How To Send Lab Orders in EMR

Connecting with labs through the EHR enables seamless communication, test ordering, and results management. Follow the steps below to connect with labs efficiently:

 

Steps to Send Lab Order in EMR:

Step 1: Access the Patient Tab

  • From the main dashboard, click on “Patient Tab.”

Step 2: Select the Patient

  • In the Patients Tab, search for and select the Patient’s Name.

Step 3: Open the Consults Section

  • Select “Consults” and then click “View” to access the patient's record.

 

Step 4: Navigate to Lab Orders

  • Click on “Lab Orders” to open the patient’s lab order information.

 

 

Step 3: Compose a Lab Request

  • Click on “Compose” to initiate a connection with the lab.

 

Step 4: Send the Request

  • Click on “Send Request” to proceed.

 

Step 5: Choose Lab Groups or Diagnosis

  • Option 1: Using Lab Groups

    • Click on “Select Lab Groups” and choose from the lab groups or panels you have already created.

    • Click “Save” to confirm your selection.

 

 

  • Option 2: Using Lab Test Order Search

    • Search for the relevant Lab Test

    • Map the diagnosis from the list.

    • Click “Save.”

 

 

 

Step 6: Send the Order

  • Click on “Send Order” to finalize the request and connect with the lab.

 

This streamlined process ensures accurate and efficient communication with labs, reducing manual effort and enhancing patient care by expediting diagnostic workflows.
