Why Session Details in a Consult Are Read-Only in DocVilla

Overview

The Session Details section in DocVilla is intentionally designed to be read-only. This section acts as DocVilla's version of the Intake Form, capturing critical patient information either:

• Filled out by the patient via the patient portal.

• Sent to the patient as a form to complete.

• Entered by the scheduler during encounter creation.

The Read-Only mode ensures the integrity and accuracy of the information provided. Here’s why this design is critical:

1. Legal Protection:

   • In the event of an audit or lawsuit, the unaltered Session Details can serve as valid evidence of what the patient submitted.

   • For example, if a patient fails to report an allergy to a medication like penicillin and adverse effects occur, the non-editable form can confirm that the provider acted on the information disclosed.

2. Accountability:

   • Prevents accidental or intentional modifications to patient-submitted details.

   • Ensures transparency and maintains trust between the patient and provider.

3. Data Integrity:

   • The non-editable or read only format safeguards the accuracy of critical health information for effective diagnosis and treatment.

• Patient-Filled Intake Form:

  • The patient completes this form through the portal or upon receiving it via email/SMS.

• Scheduler Input:

  • Alternatively, the scheduler may fill out details while creating a detailed encounter.

• Permanent Record:

  • Details cannot be edited once submitted, ensuring a permanent and reliable record.
