How To Send Message To The Patient Portal
Patients cannot initiate messages from the patient portal. It has to be initiated by the Provider or the Practice and then the patients can reply to that message.
To initiate messaging with a patient, the provider must send the first message (e.g., "Hello," "Hi," or "You can message us here"). Once the provider has initiated the conversation, the patient can then reply as needed.
This design is intentional to protect providers from professional liability.
Sending messages through the patient portal ensures secure and efficient communication between healthcare providers and patients. There are two ways to send a message:

Through Patient Encounter

Step 1: Navigate to the “Consults” tab.
Step 2: Search and Select the patient's name
Step 3: Click on the “Send Message to Patient Portal” icon.
Step 4: Type your message in the text box.
Step 5: Click “Send” to send the message.

Through Patient Profile
Step 1: From the main dashboard, navigate to the “Patient” tab.
Step 2: In the Patients tab, search for and select the patient's name.
Step 3: Click on “Consults” to access the patient's consultation records.
Step 4: Click on “View” .
Step 5: Click on the “Send Message to Patient Portal” icon.
Step 6: Type your message in the text box.
Step 7: Click “Send” to deliver the message to the patient portal.
This feature ensures reliable communication with patients, enabling them to stay informed and engaged in their care plan.
