How to Take a Screenshot on Windows and Mac
Overview
You can easily capture screenshots on both Windows and Mac devices using built-in tools. Follow the steps below based on your operating system.
For Windows
Press Windows + Shift + S on your keyboard.
Your screen will dim, and a small toolbar will appear at the top.
Select the area of the screen you want to capture.
The screenshot is automatically copied to your clipboard.
You can paste it (Ctrl + V) into an email, chat, or document.
💡 Tip: If you want to save the file directly, open the Snipping Tool or Snip & Sketch app and use the Save option.
For Mac
Press Command (⌘) + Shift + 4 to capture a selected area.
Drag to select the area you want to capture.
Press Command (⌘) + Shift + 3 to capture the entire screen.
The screenshot will be automatically saved to your Desktop by default.
💡 Tip: Press Command (⌘) + Shift + 5 to open advanced screenshot and recording options on macOS Mojave or later.
