How to Block Off Time for a Meeting in DocVilla Without Changing Your Overall Availability

Need to step away for a meeting or take a break during the day without altering your entire schedule? While DocVilla handles availability a bit differently than some other platforms, there are simple ways to block off time without making permanent changes to your weekly availability.

Understanding How Availability Works in DocVilla

In DocVilla, your available hours are what you set explicitly under your availability settings. Any time outside those hours is automatically considered "blocked"—no need to mark it manually.

However, if you want to temporarily block off a specific time slot (for a meeting, personal task, etc.) within your regular hours, here's how you can do that.

Option 1: Modify Your Availability for a Specific Day

  1. Go to the Calendar.

  2. Click on the desired date.

  1. Enter your custom Start Time and End Time for that specific day.

  2. If you're not working at all that day (e.g., holiday), you can simply check the box for "I am not working on this day" (e.g., for July 4th).

  3. Save the entry.

This will temporarily change your schedule for that day without impacting your regular weekly availability.

Option 2 (Workaround): Schedule a Dummy Appointment

Alternatively, if you prefer not to adjust your availability:

  • Simply create a consult/appointment with a test patient for that time slot.

  • That time will now appear as unavailable for other appointments.

This is a great workaround for blocking time on short notice.
